Green seaweed scatters the sparkling sand, although I consider myself a very adventurous person, I just CANNOT do fish. Shamefully, I am terrified of the scaley, bug eyed creatures. Don’t get me wrong, I love looking at them. When it comes to moving my fingers across their slimy bodies goose bumps escalate up my body and girly little screams escape from my scuba mouthpiece.
Conquering my fears, my family and I submerged into the crystal blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico...slipping my toe into another world full of underwater ecosystem. My mask dips into the water and I breath through the mouthpiece, bubbles escalate upwards to the sun shining through the water. The waters were filled with different colored fish, I observed their rippled movements in the water. All of them move together in schools of all different sizes, finding food together. When one spotted food from our tour guide luring them in with tiny pieces of bread, they all found food. Connected to the oxygen tanks above, my family and I continued to venture into the crystal waters--together. Our own little school of Magnuson’s, adventuring the world, finding “food”, and learning about a world other than ours.
